Swell Watercraft Scupper 12

The Scupper 12 has a performance-oriented hull-just like his legendary older brother- the 14. Sure, it’s not quite as fast, but it pops up much faster onto your roof rack after a long day of paddling at just 62lbs. It’s easier to handle on and off the water in most conditions.

Whereas it has lowered capacity, the 12 has the same cockpit size as the 14. So it has advanced ergonomics and virtually anybody can fit into it. The lowered footwells allow for a bent knee with superior leverage, with the knees safely below deck where your paddle won’t hit them.

Stability is increased substantially as well. It’s just 28″ wide but is easy to balance with secondary stability which makes it easier to turn than most sit on tops. Your focus stays on the natural stroke instead of staying upright.

The deck has great access with two hatches. The bow hatch is 10″ x 14″ and is great for camping gear, large items, or flexible fishing rods. The center hatch has a red insert bag to hold your personal items, which is removed easily for that precious hull access. Same comfy seat and the tankwell has been spun 45 degrees, giving a diamond-shaped profile.

Bound to join its legendary brother is this new and bold Scupper 12. We’re bringing speed, comfort, and stability to a whole new kind of kayaker. This boat is versatile. It’s performance. Practicality. With personality.

Dented in transit

My Swell Watercraft Scupper 12 was delivered on time; however, on opening the packaging I found it to be dented at both ends. I have since used the kayak, finding it to be stable, fast and good fun.

'Swell' by name and swell by nature

Absolutely adore our Swell Scupper 12's that we bought from Cambridge Kayaks, it feels like someone designed them with us in mind, we both feel they handle fantastically well in the water, even in narrower parts of the river, paddling is effortless and they are very comfortable to be in for several hours at a time. Would have loved to have tried the 14 but we are limited by storage space, however I feel the 12 is such a great craft and is just perfect for us.

Cannot recommend Cambridge Kayaks highly enough too, great friendly service - Richard was happy to answer all our questions and let us look at a few different kayaks to help us make a final decision.

Scupper 12 is a great kayak

Not the lightest and the finishing wasn’t great in in one area which Sat about 5mm out on a panel and I also discovered lots of grinder material inside the kayak which was a little disappointing as this was simple QA stuff coming out today of production but over all a great kayak, would definitely recommend and the guys at Cambridge kayaks were more than helpful. One suggestion, why not through in a Cambridge kayak T-shirt in for a bit of free advertising? Anyone looking to show off and brag about their new kayak will surely love to get people talking about it by wearing one of your shirts. Overall great service and a very happy customer! Keep up the good work guys
