Roof Bar Upright Centre Post

This is the second set of these bars that I’ve bought and I’m chuffed they still make and sell them.

I move canoes and kayaks around commercially and must have transported hundreds of boats safely and conveniently over the last six years.

The bars enable you to carry 2 large open canoes back-to-back or canoe/kayaks. They’re super quick and convenient to both fit and remove, and tighten up by hand perfectly without crushing your roof bars. (Other bars are available but don’t have the shaped rubber gaskets and require a spanner to fit and remove, both of which make a significant difference).

If you’re carrying 2 canoes make sure you have decent quality roof bars with a suitable max load weight.. (90kg+)

Very sturdy and well made. Does the job.

So first things first, these are very good quality bars. Strong and supportive, however a few minor changes would make them amazing. This is only stuff that I have tweaked myself. First I replaced the hand tightened bolts with actual bolts both for security and so I can actually clamp them securely, especially in the cold weather where it just shreds your hands. Second I cut the bolts down, I’m not sure if this is intended but the bolts are absurdly long and are just more of a faf to screw on and risk damaging/scratching stuff. Thirdly the rubber grip used for the clamp slips off in the wet so I’ve glued it on securely so that it doesn’t. I can get up to 4 kayaks on with them ant an push! Overall though there’s are minor details and I’m very happy with the bars! Cheers guys
